ABOUT ABOUT

The board of directors of the Pennsylvania State Police Troop M Camp cadet are proud to announce the sponsorship of Camp Cadet 2022.  The camp is designed to bring a better understanding to youth of law enforcement activities while living in an atmosphere of an actual State Police Training School. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline, the ability to make new friends and work with them as a team.  The week-long experience is brought to boys and girls at no expense to them. Funding is done solely by area police, civic and business groups.  Among the instructions to be presented will be first aid training, radar demonstrations, and the usage of the helicopters by the State Police and University Med-Evac from the Lehigh Valley Hospital Center with actual appearances by both for a firsthand look. Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Canine Demonstrations, St Luke’s Hospital “stop the bleed”  and much more. It is a week filled with excitement that will not soon be forgotten.

Each evening after dinner allows for time to compete in sporting activities like softball, basketball, rifle, and volleyball. Check-in is Sunday afternoon and the week is concluded the following Friday with a graduation ceremony with family and friends invited at 3pm.  To be eligible for consideration to Camp Cadet a boy or girl must be at least 12 years old but not older than 14 by May 1, 2022. He or she must be a resident of either Bucks, Lehigh, or Northampton County and must be in good physical condition.

Interested boys or girls must submit applications.  If your name is selected you will be required to attend an orientation prior to your acceptance.  The camp for boys and girls will be held at Camp Fowler in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. Please visit our website at www.troopmcampcadet.org for more details and photographs. We are also on Facebook, Troop M Camp Cadet.  Directions and all other additional information will be provided to those persons who are accepted to Camp Cadet. If there are any questions or you need more information about the program, please contact Trooper Nathan Branosky at 610-861-2026 or via email at [email protected].

A Note to Parents

This is a camp for boys and girls that are interested in law enforcement. It is not a camp for problem-solving of your teens. If they are interested, please encourage them to attend, they cannot learn more anywhere else. If their desire is to not attend, do not force them since this will only hamper our efforts. This camp uses discipline and various methods of motivation to promote self-confidence and leadership, among other positive qualities.  With that in mind, the delivery is different on a child to child basis in order to get through to them.  Much like a successful sports team coach, we as counselors must learn and apply these methods to each individual as best we can or the message is lost.  Given our limited time to learn these needs, build rapport and apply them, please provide us with any helpful information about your child that will be an asset or present a challenge in reaching our goals.  This may include but is not limited to: mortal fears, vices, social aversions, and family history. All cadets must be properly immunized to attend this camp.
